This chapter, which I co-authored with my wife, Radhule Weininger, is published as a chapter in the book, Whole Person Care: A New Paradigm for the 21st Century (Springer, New York, 211).
This article was published in the Journal of The American Medical Association (JAMA), in March 2009. In April 2009, the article was featured in a related audio presentation, “Author in the Room” (Author in the Room), and has, since then, been cited widely in peer-reviewed publications on self-care.
This article was published as an editorial in the journal Palliative Medicine in December 2003. In it, Kearney and Balfour Mount talk about healing and whole person care in the setting of advanced disease and argue how lessons learned in this setting could be applied more broadly throughout healthcare.
This short chapter is in Edward Bastian’s book, Meditations for InterSpiritual Wisdom: Practices and Readings Drawn from the World’s Spiritual Traditions. Celtic cosmology offers a way of understanding our relationship to the natural world. This is discussed as well as the attitudes and practices that can help us come into a deeper relationship with other-than-human-nature. The chapter ends with a guided meditation:
